The Sony LA-EA5 is a compact lens adapter with an elegant, cylindrical form factor that lets A-mount lens users take advantage of the outstanding AF performance provided by the latest E-mount camera bodies. A newly developed compact AF drive unit and aperture drive unit are packaged into this sleek, high-performance cylindrical mount adapter. The adapter matches the diameter of the A-mount so that nothing protrudes from the bottom of the mount when used on a compact E-mount body, ensuring comfortable hold and operation even when the camera is mounted on a vertical grip. E-mount focal plane phase-detection AF for A-mount SSM and SAM lenses This advanced adapter allows A-mount SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor) lenses to be used with the latest E-mount camera bodies, with full support for wide-area focal plane phase-detection AF, including subject-recognition features such as Real-time Eye AF (human & animal), Real-time Tracking, and more. AF/AE tracking at up to 11 fps for SSM and SAM lenses Used with the latest E-mount camera bodies, this advanced adapter makes A-mount SSM and SAM lenses compatible with the AF/AE tracking capability of E-mount bodies, even while shooting continuously at up to 11 fps. Accurate AF and AF/AE tracking for SSM, SAM, and motor-less lenses The LA-EA5 supports all A-mount lenses, including models such as the Sonnar T* 135mm F1.8 ZA and Planar T* 85mm F1.4 ZA that do not have internal motors.
