Ylang Ylang is a large tree native to Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Its yellow flowers have a strong fragrance and long, trailing petals. The essential oil derived from the flowers is abundant and popular for its scent, especially in the perfume and cosmetics industries, and is also increasingly used in the food industry. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is known for its mental stimulating properties. In aromatherapy, it is considered one of the best oils for relaxing the mind and body, with the simple act of smelling it believed to lower blood pressure. Bathing with the oil or using it in massages further enhances its calming effects. It is also used to relieve stress, depression, shock, and anxiety. When applied as a hair tonic, it can help balance oil production. While beneficial, high concentrations of Ylang Ylang oil may cause headaches or nausea. The name "Ylang Ylang" translates to "flower of flowers" in Malay, and the oil has traditionally been seen as an aphrodisiac and relaxing fragrance.
