Citronella Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems of Cymbopogon plants, particularly Cymbopogon nardus. Known for its insect-repellent properties, it has been recognized as a bio-pesticide since 1948 in the USA. Major producers of this oil are Indonesia and China, which together account for about 40% of global production. This oil is effective for managing excessive perspiration, oily skin and hair, and can be used as a natural deodorant. It is also known to relieve pain from rheumatism and arthritis, and can help resist flu, colds, and minor infections. Additionally, it aids in healing digestive issues such as colitis and intestinal infections, and helps eliminate intestinal parasites. Citronella oil is known to ease menstrual cramps, relieve fatigue, and improve mood when used in a vaporizer. Historically, ancient cultures in India, Egypt, and other regions where Cymbopogon species grew used it to repel insects, particularly mosquitoes. These cultures often lived near water sources where the abundance of mosquitoes brought disease, making the use of citronella as a repellent vital for survival. Note: Avoid use during pregnancy and in children under 3, and do not consume internally.
