Q&A with Lydia Bright

Describe your style:

I have always had a very glamorous, girly style. However, I am going to be completely honest during the year 2020, I felt like I lost my way with fashion. I had a new baby and like most of us, I was spending so much more time at home. The heels started collecting dust and wearing a minidress presented so many questions. 'How would I fold a pram without flashing my knickers?' was a big one. I went through a 'small' stage in my life, where I was living in boring loungewear, which didn't feel very me, but also seemed a lot more practical than my former style. I now feel like I have found a happy medium and like me, my style has evolved, matured and become a lot more practical than life pre-Loretta. I still love wearing dresses, they make me feel feminine and pretty. However, they now consist of a lot more fabric, which I actually think makes them look more premium and classic. I still like to look glamorous, however, I have learnt glamorous doesn't always mean wearing heels 75% of the time. A floaty dress teamed with a lace-up boot can be glam and effortless at the same time. So I would say my style is effortlessly glam, feminine and practical for mum life.

You have 5 minutes to get ready, what do you put on?

Whilst we are still in the heart of winter, I rarely go anywhere without every part of my body or feet covered. I would chuck on a pair of leggings, a long sleeve t-shirt or thermal vest and thick socks. I would then hide all the winter wear with a high neck, loose dress and team with a pair of boots and a trench.

What are your favourite pieces in the collection and why?

I love the Spot Crinkle Jersey Tie Back Midi Dress, the Mono Spot Floral Tie Cuff Midi Dress, the Floral Print Shirred Cuff Mesh Midi Dress and the Botanist Floral Splice Column Midi Dress for all the same reasons. They all standout and yet the prints are classic and timeless, floral and spots will always be on trend. All long sleeved for the cold weather and the perfect length for day or night. All dresses would like great with a pair of flat boots in the day and equally would look so elegant teamed with a heel for the evening. The word I hear fashion experts using very often is 'versatile’.

What are you wearing this NYE?

I cannot wait to wear the Polka Dot Sequin Puff Sleeve Midi Dress, this NYE. It's everything you want from a festive frock, sequins, show stopping and it will still look good with tights, if you aren't brave enough to go bare legged.

Any New Year’s Style Resolutions?

1. I know it's cliche but I really want to get back into my fitness. Pre-pregnancy and baby I was in the gym/yoga studio three times a week minimum. Post, I think I have been three times this year. Work and mum life gets in the way, but I really miss the feeling of being fit. 2. Try and get back a nighttime social life. It’s a hard one because being a single parent and co-sleeping does make nights out difficult. Also, I’m normally knackered by the evening so we rarely have nights apart. However, I do want to try and commit to one night out a month where I can get glam and let my hair down. 3. Have a digital detox/no work/no plans day once a week. Naturally, I find it hard switching off and relaxing. However, I want to dedicate one day a week where I put my phone in the cupboard, don’t do any work and chill at home with Loretta all day. We can do arts and crafts, cooking, watch a movie, just us two no distractions. Days like this are always good to recharge.

What are you most looking forward to in 2022?

I am really looking forward to finding and moving into a new home. My house has served me well for eleven years, however, we have outgrown it and it's time to find the perfect, family property for me and my little lady. Career wise I am really excited to finally announce a project that I have been working on since I was pregnant. It is MAJOR and has been such a passionate project for so long, I can't say too much but all will be revealed soon. I am also so looking forward to my second spring/summer at the caravan, Loretta is going to enjoy it so much more, now she is a little older and making more beautiful memories with my girl.
